This is the "sign" of the agreement between God and Abraham that all males will be circumcised and God will make of Abraham the father of a multitude of nations. This painting depicts the ceremony at an Upper East Side Synagogue in New York City. The painting is on permanent display at Artisan Works, Rochester, New York.
